| Thedelboy ... adaptations will be well nigh near impossible to get in the private sector ... they are difficult enough to obtain in the social housing market. |

| Miriam I know that but what the hell I seriously find it difficult getting upstairs,so I would rather move to a ground floor property and do any adaptions from my own pocket |

| It isn't just that ... private landlords may not be willing to have adaptations done to their properties. Like it or not thedelboy, the only way you are going to get anywhere is by kicking up a fuss. And I do fully appreciate how irksome that is. |

I do agree with Mim there. Also, if you are in Council accommodation now and renounce your tenancy to go to private sector, you really are back to square one again if it doesn`t work out. Stay put and make a fuss - a discreet fuss if you prefer. Does your MP hold a local constituency `surgery` that you could get to? Whatever political party isn`t relevant, it`s a local issue and an individual constituent seeking the MP`s support. It`s worth a try (Just don`t tell him you don`t vote for him though!) Draft a letter pleading your case and describing your tribulations first, take it with you, speak your bit calmly and leave him with what you`ve written. |

I have some friends who live in a council house which is overcrowded to the point of the mum and dad sleeping on the floor in the lounge, so that the son and daughter have a room each without having to share, the kids are 10 and 15. they have a MASSIVE damp problem in every room, they get ill every year from the damp and the council wont give them a high banding, they are on band C. they have waited for 8 years to move from the current property, and the worst bit of it all is that before the bidding system came in they were 2nd on the list to move, now they're band C with no hope of moving unless they're band A or B.
I have had problems with my neighbours since 2005, as some of you may know. I was in a housing association and although it has made us very very ill, husband having chest pains, me having high blood pressure and my daughter wetting the bed due to stress we were offered band D. we saw an add in the friday add a couple of weeks ago for a detached bungalow and we moved in last week. the security isn't there and we can't decorate as we would like but we're so much more relaxed and happier.
Homemove is a big stinking pile of poo
Good luck |

Delboy, dear old thing, you AREN`T 9 stone of crap. You`re still the same bloke whether you`re a hunk of muscle or a skinny bloke in pain. My late hubby for the last year of his life was unable to stand for long or walk any distance,(bone cancer, secondary to prostate cancer) but Neither he nor I would accept the term `Cripple`, it was just about `do what you can do`, and the person in there is still the same. This farmhouse -would you be able to get about in it, and be comfortable living there or adapt it for your needs? If you would, then don`t get all huffy and principled about it. Think of the real pro`s and cons, and I do hope it will be a happy solution for you and your wife. |

I agree with Fluffy. If the building suits and you can be happy there then go for it. The neighbours, if any, could be better also. |

Delboy, it sounds as if you and your brother think a lot of each other, which is great, as that isn`t always the case. So, at some stage you`ll have to talk things through with him - even if only to turn down his offer, should that be what you decide - and let him know how you feel, your need for independence and all that. SURELY, he`d be able to respect that, whatever you decide, so maybe you could work out with him a way to accept his offer and still keep your independence, if he understood why you hesitate. Also, you could be doing him a favour, as he`d rather have you than some stranger living in his property who might trash it. |

I was just lucky I think, in the process of moving at the moment picked the keys up today. Tried to get BT to change the line over keeping my old number, do you think I could talk to anybody, no chance all very busy. Another go tomorrow, this moving is becoming stressful must drop down a gear or I will have another heart attack
Wishing you all the luck, for thats what it is at the end of the day, not need
My home move is now completed, although it made me very ill. Had to spend a few days in bed, heart protested, legs swelled up to tight drums of fluid! All done now, only agro was broadband connection at the new address but thats sought-ed now.
Don't ever move unless you have to , so stressful |

| Hi all,I have just been on "Homemove" website and looked at my personal info;and guess what I found? Out of 60 properties I have applied for since 24th march 06 until 17aug 07 42 have gone to band "A" applicants 4 to band "B" and 1 to band "C" 5 withdrawn and I have been shortlisted for 8 that to me is complete lack of administration and compassion why offer properties to all and sundry if they know which band they are to be given to?obviously they are just pissing people about so central government see some results even if they are false results!! any comments would be appreciated |

| I`d suggest print off this info if you can, or copy it as it appears on the Home Move website, and get several copies made. Send to your MP, to your local Council, (regardless and unmentioning of your political affiliations) and to any other bods you can think of (Miriam - anyone else you can suggest?)with a polite but firm covering letter, asking for help in seeking explanation. |

| Home move say that I am picking the wrong proerties, but this is not the case I have picked properties that are suitable for my needs;also the properties I pick are for people with my disabilities as stated in thier brochure(some I have picked are for able bodied so yet again they lie) |

the latest on Homemove, last 66 bids 51 have gone to band A,4 to band B,1 to band C,4 withdrawn, and I am shortlisted for 6;I have sent a "E-Mail" to them asking that they make the brochure clearer as I am obviously wasting bids if it is already decided that certain properties are for specific bands!! as of yet no response from homemove.they should rename it dont move |

Del, have just caught up on this thread, which I know is a bit stale, but if I ever hear you describe yourself again as "crap" I shall come along and give you a bloody good hiding and that's a promise! |

Home move still have not updated thier system,it is either bad management or total lack of honesty on thier behalf. I hope Mary Mears reads this as her article in the Argus on the 10th june states she will be more hands on within her capacity of housing councillor,MARY LETS SEE IT not just hear it!!!! |
