Its funny. I don't know much at all about local politics and am not involved in any party activity but I do know some things about Cllr Elgood that I too would love to share with you all. I shouldn't know these things not living in Brunswick & Adelaide and not knowing the man but I do all the same. Odd isn't it? |

The Brunswick & Adelaide Election Blog 2007 - Vote Liberal Democrat on May 3rd
Wednesday, April 25, 2007 Bandstand decision delayed
I hear there has been a delay in the decision for funding to restore the seafront bandstand - this is a complete and utter disgrace. Its become a symbol of the neglect of the seafront, well second only to the West Pier. You have to ask why the Labour-led council has let this go on so long. Its time for action.

| Paul Elgood has had more about-turns than Phil Spector has had changes of wigs in recent months. |

So Ruth Kelly needs more time to consider the King Alfred and Stadium applications, could the local elections have more to do with this delay? Think there all going to get the go ahead after the election.
More concerned with the proposed sell off again of Shoreham airport to an equity firm, if it goes ahead all assurances about a hard runway and housing development will be revalued against local objections and wishes.

Paul Elgood is getting very alarmed in Brunswick.
His lealfet claims that Labour is the rival when in fact Labour has not put out a leaflet so far. He also bangs on about the Tories being "a poor fourth" last time - he is clearly worried about the big effort they have made the past year.
His worry is proved by his suddenly declaring - outrageously - that the Tories want to put a car-park under Brunswick Square! That is the allegation of a man in a tail-spin.
He also does not mention Brian Ralfe, who is certainly causing a great buzz, and will gain a lot of votes from the LibDems.

| I've heard that Paul Elgood, along with his good friend Fitchy boy, were thrown out of a planning meeting for being drunk. Anyone know the truth of it? |

An election leaflet came crashing through the letter box today which I thought was quite refreshingly "different". No other "Party" was "slagged off"; positive, very local issues were highlighted. I'm not "into" party politics myself, but this approach to everyday concerns was, as I have said, refreshingly different:

| Bless them ... If I was in that ward I'd have voted for them for that alone ... As it is, I've decided to vote independent already. |

Anyone know where the Independents stand on the football stadium at Falmer? This is going to be a big factor in the way I vote this time around.
Also I’m a traditional Labour voter but I was very annoyed with the way they slung off Councillor Juliet McCaffery for not towing the party line in the schools debate/vote. It doesn’t matter which camp you are in, that is not the way to run a democracy. |

'I've heard that Paul Elgood, along with his good friend Fitchy boy, were thrown out of a planning meeting for being drunk. Anyone know the truth of it?'
Hence the 'rosy' aunt sally cheeks? Explains alot. Yes. Labour, new Labour, are corrupt. LTNS is not wrong. Utterly corrupted with contempt for the people. Do your worst on election day and vote for the change, desperately, required.
They used to rely on an old phrase 'but you will only let the tories in'. Laughable. Like they could do worse than this lib dem corrupted propped up shower. Fitch ffs. Exhibit one. Need anyone go on? Biggest tosspots in town and no mistake.

Still in Brunswick & Adelaide:
The Lib Dems say "And don't forget that whilst the Lib Dems work to improve the seafront Lawns and Squares, the Conservatives want to build car parks underneath them".
The car park under the squares idea is quite old. I do not see that in the Brunswick & Adelaide Conservative leaflet. I wonder if this work to improve part includes what they did with King Alfred.

There is much merriment in disaffected Labour cricles that Ken Bodfish has been to Essex Place a seconf time, toiling from floor to floor. He is a desperate man, a far cry from swanning around Europe.
Up in Hangleton, Brian Fitch has had to go around with so many leaflets in a bid to keep his seat that he has done his leg in. It is bandaged up, and he shows it to anybody who expresses the slightest interest. |

Paul Elgood is said to be in a very bad mood. The LibDems are not doing anything in Wish and Westbourne so that they can help him in Brunswick, and they do not hold out any hopes for Goldsmid. The King Alfred means they have no hope in Central.
He is being very much squeezed by the Conservatives and by Brian Ralfe, and he doe not like this upset in his cosy patch.
He is not getting any more help from Labour as he has served his purpose for them and they have hung him out to dry. Many of them are entertained at his squirming now. |

'Fresh blood'? Ha. If Fitch is anything to go by that is not 'fresh' by a country mile. Leeds got relegated today as well. With new Labour in turmoil and the pressure on Blair to go yesterday these are wonderful and unique times to be alive. |

Received copy of Wish Labour Rose. So many inaccuracies and one obvious lie. Referring to school's admission policy. Statement: This year only one child south of Portland Road gained a place at a Hove school. Fact: This year only one child south of Portland Road gained a place at Blatchington Mill. Tried to check on some other statements but Council website seems to have a problem. |
