some real news "The Argus has made staff redundant" errm where have they told the readers this? the answer is in the fact that thier staff do not seek news they f*ck it up!! but when it is an important issue they are either paid to cover it up or hide it (allegedly) wher is the news about the "TUC" meeting taking place as of monday the 8th september? where is the news that Brighton properties have held thier prices better than 80% of Britain?

keep on smiling

Has the Argus quietly closed down the Rocks paper since taking it over? and given its editor, Sarah Lewis a bit more space in the Argus?

If so, that's a predatory shame, as Rocks was rather good. It was run by the people who did Insight before that was taken over (and that seems to have vanished too...).

Anything's better than the happy-clappy City News...

Is Scouser a derogertary term? In this case in could be seen as such. Imagine if the perpetrators had been from Pakistan, China or Africa and the "slang" term for them had been used.

The Christian Science Monitor is going online daily but with a weekly printed magazine. Is this going to be the Argus's approach?

Things are changing quickly newswise in American cities. Could the same happen in Brighton and Hove where the Argus news coverage gets thinner?

Mrs Poppadum has heard that Brighton and Hove Council - and the Argus - are getting alarmed that people here might try to set up someting like this.

Interesting developments in American local papers here. Clearly there is a demand for print.

A reader has been inspired to write a letter about the Argus's wayward command of grammar.

Mrs Poppadum has just called to say that she has spotted this Argus hoarding:

POLICE BLIZT ON DRIVERS USING MOBILES

Let's hope thay are more successful in their task than the Argus is at describing it.

Yes, newspapers took newsagents for granted, but newsagents feel demoralised.

Check out the beauty from today's fron page:

It's a wipeout in Sussex

Updated 12:47pm Saturday 10th January 2009

The entire non-league programme involving Sussex clubs today has been wiped out by frozen pitch.

Did they all share just 1 pitch?

The Argus has a scoop today.

There is a story about a man being accidentally locked inside a gym.

A scoop?

Yes, the headline includes the phrase "wait-training".

So the Argus's scoop is of its own making: the worst joke in the history of the universe. Even Worthing can do better than that.

The Argus here has "cyclits" in the last line and somebody comments that this could be a whole new thing: books about bikes.

An unusual angle for a paper here - way beyond the Argus's Views from the Web slot.

Mrs Poppadum has heard that Newsquest could be centralising its newspaper offices and leaving just an outpost in each town.

Bravo, once again the Argus greets an educational matter with a fine flourish of linguistic ineptitude.

SCHOOL'S CLOSED TODAY

Is the Argus now run by greengrocers? After all, a certain greengrocer would like to have a stranglehold over it.
