What is up with the Duke of York's cinema?

Why is it giving all this time - any time - to The Simpsons Movie and to the latest Bourne movie when these are being shown elsewhere?

Shouldn't it be showing such things as Two Days in Paris and Delerious?

Any more of this, I think I'll lose the habit of picking up the programme and shall wait for the DVDs.

The Duke of York's is on notice. It can choose to be a good repertory cinema or it can go the way of the Odeon with its absurd claim to be "fanatical about film".

It includes Two Days in Paris.

It looks as if LTNS is trying to play as much havoc with Chichester's cienma as he is with Brighton's eating habits.

That is the Chichester video room, not the cinema.

Looks as if a fortnight in Chichester provides what the Duke of York's takes six months to do.

There should be a Brighton Film Festival.

the palce is poorly supplied with cinemas.

If my memory (such as it is) serves me correctly, there used to be a Brighton Film Festival.
I would think there is the same number of cinemas now as then.
Difference being the were not all in a couple of complexes and thus had a larger overall capacity.

According to the Website of Picturehouse, the company that bought the Duke of Yorks in 1995, they should be playing "Tell No One", "Golden Door", "La Vie En Rose" and "Waitress". However, if you look at their "What's On" page it seems like maybe the Simpsons/Bourne films are just a summer interlude - something for the grockles until all the art students come back from their backpackingaroundtheworldwithonlytwopairsofunderwear holidays.

Here is a letter which agrees.

Will Brighton miss out on Two Days in Paris?

Another, small cinema at the King Alfred would have been a good tactic by the people who want all that.

And now the Duke of York's has a week all day of that dull-sounding French version of Lady Chatterley's Lover which has already been filmed too many times...

Julie Delphy in Two Days in Paris, written and directed by her, has been praised everwhere and is hsowing in most places - but Brighton misses out in it. Pitiful.

The Duke of York's needs roof.

Perhaps this is why it has stopped showing interesting films?

But after this summer's dismal showings I have stopped looking at its programmes... Thank goodness for the DVD.

The Australian film Kenny about a portaloo installer is being shown at Odeon. I should have thought this was something which would have found its audience at the Duke of York's.

Some Films have a projection that demands bigger Networks

As Nazz has said, Kenny is a small-scale, entertaining film of a sort which fits in very well with what one expects at the Duke of York's. It is probably lost in a cubby-hole at the Odeon.

Are Brighton's temporary portaloos properly licensed now?
