For a true believer like OBL the only dye he is allowed to use on his beard is henna, so it would have bright red patches where the white used to be. This is obviously a false beard.
No less obvious is the transparant appeal to 'a certain segment' of the population of the West with his recommendation to read the once-great linguist Chomsky and his hitting of the global warming and evils of capitalism buttons. Not to mention his "moral equivilance/the Christians were even worse once-upon-a-time" spiel.
The important point in this speech is the invitation. This follows the pattern of the Hadith Sahih Muslim 4294quote:
When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these, you also accept it and withold yourself from doing them any harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them....If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah's help and fight them.
First the invitation. Then, if non-believers refuse, then the demand for Jizya (a tax on non-believers). Then, if they refuse to pay the tax, war. Those are the options we have. Convert, pay up or die.
Or we could just fight back. |
