We all know this is not a "main stream" forum.
If that and mass appeal was wanted it would be back to the Argus or similar.
I guess it would be hard to find if you did not know of it.
Brighton Forum search on Google does not get a hit (first four pages).
The question is ...
Is that a bad thing? |

So it appears Anubis has a problem! Well yes, weighing the old souls (hearts/ 'ka's, whatever) is a tricky task, especially when it's windy -- the feathers blow away.
It wasn't intended to be a profound, world shattering remark, rather recognition a reasonable unpretentious site seemed to have shrunk to just one or two regulars. Just an observation .... a pity there is sometimes the odd individual determined to make a hostile comment to almost everything I ever contribute; maybe if I live long enough I'll do some research into Freudian projection theory to understand the motivation behind these barbs ...
[Our distant planetary friend is right to say it's not 'national'; although the postings there are even less! Mind you, we seem to get the odd contribution from the international community. Not being 'mainstream', Dave, can be a real advantage -- and there is a cluster among you, known to one another for years -- I often find great value in the bits and pieces from LTNS & TB.]
It's a pity if the Livewire interventions have driven some away. I had an insert edited once by LW and, as I said at the time, the intervention was fully justified and I was very happy it had been done.
I had hoped a reader might have had suggestions to make for obviously there are advantages to be had from a larger number of posters ... and surely we don't have to automatically belittle those with whom we decide to disagree ... |

I think some fresh blood would be good for the forum.
Miriam, if I were searching for a forum I would not enter livewire or forumco as I would have never heard of the "names".
If I remember, it was from reading comments in the Argus that first got my attention.

| When I found the Argus forum it was by searching a particular topic (Firle and the gypsy effigy burning row).I wonder if folks could find this forum in a similar way? It would be nice to have some newcomers, and if they abused the system, as some might, they could be hoiked out. |

Blame the Argus Forum who chucked all those threads in the bin

| Summer has always been a slack time for posting. You notice it more on a smaller forum but I remember even on the old Argus forums there were periods when only a handful posted. |

I'm not just Dingo there so I'll have a try to drum up some interest. I do agree that we are in a bit of limbo here. I guess a decision by the Regulars needs to be made soon. Are we going to expand this group with all the teething problems that involves or not?

I was initially concerned that this forum would end up with a few regulars that think essentially the same way on most issues. Discussion took a nose dive on the old forum when people stopped making points and started making personal attacks. Then the absolute insanity of “the political party” cut and paste, followed by the deliberate sabotage of the site left it worthless. If the last two points can be controlled it may be worth the risk to open up the membership to diversify the views expressed on the forum. Of course this opinion comes from someone who only moderates technical forums…where the worst insult I see is when someone tells a poster to go back to playing Xbox GTA until they are qualified to enter the discussion at hand.
