The i360 is privately financed, no?

I would imagine they have convened with the fire brigade, unless I am missing something obvious? Transport is a worry. When are we going to get a mega park and ride site out of town and a fleet of buses!?

Do not let your mind wander. It is too little to be let out on it's own.

Oh bliss ... and then the work will be stopped because of (un)seasonal gales and so it starts ... yet another wonderful Brighton project!

This would seem to be a Very important project for this City,
if it works and is safe
it will even bring more Rich Americans over for it.
The Non Rich Americans can not afford it while the Dollar Rate
is so weak.

Where has LTNS encountered all these Rich Americans he claims to be in Brighton?

Have any of them ventured into a branch of Greggs to stoke up on fattening food and so be able to others that they had gotten a glimpse of English color?

By that same reasoning, rich Americans can afford to charter a helicopterflight and don't have to view Brighton from a donut lifted into the air on a pole.

That Tower is a First,
you simply do not understand Miriam
if it works and is safe - Many more places, in the world , will have them.
This is Possible Billions
if it all works etc.

So Rich Americans will go on it
many times,
if it is safe.

I wouldn't say it is a first (I've been on observation towers before) but it will be the biggest (similar to the London Eye - a new twist on an existing idea)

Yes it is a First in that Format,
due to the way the circle goes up and down
if it works.

I've been up the CN Tower in Canada
but it is nothing like this strange design.

No but LTNS would, it means he can say "you simply do not understand Miriam" ... Don't take away the simple pleasures left to the lad please dom.

How many top places has LTNS eaten at to establish the assertion that Brighton is visited by so many Rich Americans?

There are loads of towers where the 'circle goes up and down' such as:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlsberg_Sky_Tower

http://english.rides.nl/attractie/info/564#0
http://www.entertainmentdeveloper.com/tower.html
http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/park/rides/tranquil/space_spiral.cfm

So, as I say, nothing new, but probably the biggest in the world.

I thought better of you falling for the marketing spiel LTNS :)

I think the i360 is not a good idea for Brighton & Hove. It is so large that it will dominate the whole seafront and loom over everything. I don't know why we want it here. It's not as if there's that much to see from it. The odd ship in the channel, some fields in the distance, traffic holdups in Brighton. Does it make a noise going up and down? Think of the chaos on the seafront when it is being built, and after. With all those lorries rumbling past it to build the i360 I expect the seafront bandstand will become unstable, the Council will say it has to be 'put into storage' for future restoration and then it will mysteriously just disappear from the storage depot.

The Bandstand must be made stronger
so this Tower, will ensure that.

It will Dominate that is very true,
if it works and is safe - time will tell
of how it will change Brighton.

to be spent.

These Rich Americans. Can we just picture the scene when they get to Texas after going up the Brighton Eye.

As Hank surveys the vast prairie and the chugging oil-wells, the cattle heaving from one side of it to the other beneath the hills, he will sigh and say, "Gee, Elma, this sure ain't anything like that view we had of Whitehawk! Reckon we should sell and buy up Peacehaven!"

Yes, indeed, how does LTNS spot these Rich Ranks at loose in Brighton?

Even if somebody is an American, they do not shout out loud in St James's Street, "I've got four million in spare change!" They'd never get out alive. And you do not need to be wearing a ten-gallon hat and/or stretch trouser suit to be an American. You can be wearing a discreet suit and have a whole load of money that nobody would guess at.

So this whole question is a complete misnomer when it comes to the question of the Brighton Eye.

The legal system would collapse if LTNS were on a jury. All the defendant would have to do is turn up with a Greggs bag prominent and he would be let off under reasonable doubt even if the judge had said, "put that pasty away in my court!"

There was a band concert at 2pm yesterday by the bandstand on the seafront in aid of the Save The Bandstand Campaign. Deckchairs had been put out and it was so pleasant. People were really enjoying it despite the scruffy nature of the bandstand site. It seemed to capture the feeling of seaside holidays of the past. The bands were excellent and how wonderful it would be for them to be able to play on the actual bandstand again with the area round it made attractive with planting, paving and some seating. Is it really that difficult for the Council to finish this part of the seafront which has been left desolate for so long. Visitors probably don't realise just how long it has been like it (unless they come year after year).

There are reports that Gill Mitchell wants Fatboy Slim to "perform" at the repaired Bandstand.

Here is a Councillor who wants the area around the West Pier re-done at the saame time as this tower. But how can that be done until it is known what a re-built West Pier will require on the seafront there?
