Commenting on building the sports centre without the flats in the Battle for Brunswick topic. Pay attention to what the developer is obliged to build and not build. Could make for an unexpected outcome the in different economic times we have.

Yes in these Hard New Labour times all Mega Contrats are getting scaled down so fast housing in flats is what New Labour Policy demand.
Oh well ... I could be wrong of course but by the pro housing posts you've got on these forums ... you don't seem to be all that discerning. Provided they are rabbit hutchesflats, you seem content to let them be thrown up.

IF they are in "Great Places and up High" - Small Flats are great Sellers.

LTNS ... do you ever think about who are supposed to buy these Small Flats in "Great Places and up High"? ... and what is up high? on a mountain top or on top of several stories of flats that will not sell so well because they are not up high?

Rabbits are for Dinner I think you are getting Confused.
The Marina Tower will not be over the new Mega Walmart it is close to it. It is over a Fantastic Sea View.

Oh, I am not getting confused LTNS ... I do think however that you are definitely suffering from myopia. So, young couples are going to buy these overpriced wonderful small flats with great views near a mega store. And then what LTNS? Are they going to stay young couples forever? Are they going to have families? Are they going to need schools and parks and places to walk the family dog? Are they going to need a dentist and a doctor and a haberdashery to buy the odd button to replace? Are they going to need somewhere to park the car and discard their rubbish?

All these Towers deal with Rubbish and Parking. And the Young that move into that well priced Marina Tower can work hard and be able to save then in 20 years as they get older they move to the Hills as the Sea invades.
And take that Waitrose Deal in Lewes Road that will be a New Community with everything In House.
I do not wish to be picky but.... They are unlikely to get a council house and locally, schools in council estates are being closed. Shops in areas such as Newhaven are closing and being replaced by tacky market stools.
They may think that this is their only choice, crap that it is!
Crappy world, crap housing is the future. Nothing to do with whoever is in power. They do not care in their big gated houses with chelsea tractors.
We're all doomed! Head for the hills before they start heading for you!

Myopia?
No Way.

Really LTNS? Have you had a good look at the New England quarter? A new community with everything in house? Sure about that are you? Totally self sufficient are they?

No ... I know you are not talking about that place LTNS. But you have done and you lauded it too ... Now look at it. Fact is sweetness, you haven't a clue when it comes to urban development. It isn't just about throwing up some high-rises, no mater how charming the view. And it isn't just about getting small flats for young couples.

The dodgy Karis has somehow got the money together to buy Dresden House and get this planning permission for it.
Is this the sort of building more likely to sell at such a time? Especially if there turns out no longer to be the prospect of residents looking out their windows and seeing the King Alfred towers looming?
Was permission given with the tacit understanding all round that the king Alfred will not in fact go ahead?
