Sounds from this as if the residents are having a bit better luck with Ruth Kelly in Cornwall, where, however, the local paper is also supporting the developer...

The King Alfred site is now more valuable than it was - and could become all the more so if it is not built on.

The value of the site for the community (in the broadest sense) can only be realised if sensible housing is built there.

There is also going to be a Tea Dome according to details in the Greggs topic. Better to have that than the usual cafes at the foot of tower blocks next to launderettes.

Which houses are these?

Those between that hotel and the block of flats on the corner of Hove Street?

They are ugly houses. Cannot imagine anybody much upset to see those go. More flats in such places, less need for them at the King Alfred.

I think there are also houses on Kingsway west of Princes but they are a terrace and difficult to see that being knocked down. Who knows? Post not specific.

Those of us in Portslade have the impression that some Hove people do not want any houses knocked down ever at all.

Apparently Gill Mitchell is in a stonking bad mood this evening, and all because today it turns that an agreement about the King Alfred cannot be signed for a few more weeks. What do a few weeks matter? All very odd...

Just keep any stray cats or dogs out of her way then ... just in case she is one of those who kicks when she's in a mood. We wouldn't want her to get scratched or bitten now would we ...

Apart from that ... think about the poor animals ... heaven only knows what they might pick up.

The Argus got a swift report on this. It is getting quicker at getting stories online...

More to be said on the story, most likely.

Well, the Tories did say they would pull the plug on it if they got into power ... they haven't got a majority but apparently they have enough clout to fulfil an election promise ... watch this space as they say

But this also means that the Greens have to say where they stand on it. Are they happy to go along with it, or will they instead use it as a chance to get it right? Are the Greens unified over this, or is there another division in them?

Indeed, is the particular Agreement correct ? If so, can it now be reversed?

There are a lot of complex questions here, and that must explain why Karis is so ratty.

I think it was a great meeting, breathtaking infact! The greens abstained, clrs carden and ex chair hamilton stamping their feet in rage and josh screaming for minites to be taken.Maybe it will be properly thought out if/before the spiv gets his hands on it.Also bandstand to be restored at last and pink and blue lights dropped from pool valley.

Yes, Greggs are having an effect, with the King Alfred and the Bandstand. Perhaps they will be able to give me Mr Karis a job (out the back).

Oh dear, the council could now be sued for 60million ( or 100 million according to the Argus editorial ) if they pull out or delay the deal at this stage. I imagine this won't be covered by any indemnity policy, so if we reckon the population of B&H is 250,000 that's 240 quid for every man, woman, child and baby. Yikes.

The being sued line is the usual scaremongering. The KA is small beer to ING, and Karis can't afford to sue, even if it had a case.

Anyway, the £240 a head would be money well spent!

Just a smoke screen as everything regulated by a secret agreement. The problem is the Council acting as co-developer and planning authority as well.

If Mr Arghiros is getting excited over such a point, what will he be like when the KA has to keep coming back to Planning as it all proves unbuildable?

Or does he just want his Planning sewn up so that he can sell it on?

Hear hear, it'll cost us a lot more then £240 a head if it does get built.

Part of Karis propoganda leaflet promised £2.5 million for a new indoor Bowls centre at Hove Park. This should ,of course , be built before any work starts on KA. The first plan was rejected and so far no further plan is forthcoming so perhaps the Council can stall any building starting until this is finished and the present Bowls Club can move in.
This does not appear as any of the section 106 agreements.

Any more delaying tactics please?

If that document is signed next week, karis and ing will own the site for 250 years.Expect the meeting next week to be full of karis hecklers and rent-a-thugs,all rather grim really.

Here's a thought ... let Karis take BHCC to court, the council can then go for bankruptcy and we may actually end up with a decent council, no KA and Karis will get a fiver a month ... we are all winners
