Scorching Chicago Marathon leaves 1 dead

CHICAGO - In a race run in scorching heat that left one man dead, Kenya's Patrick Ivuti won the Chicago Marathon by a fraction of a second Sunday. More than 300 runners were taken to hospitals because of heat-related ailments...

I have lived here most of my life and I still do not understand how 88 F temperature feels like 100 when it happens here in in October. This is a big event here, and some serious runners I know actually quit. So it was not just the usual "out of shape" over reachers that were felled by the heat. GB was well represented as always...you can do a search here for results...

I have completed some summer marathons in UK.
Luckily there was lots & lots of water around.
Must have drank many litres.
Just to show how much was sweated out I did not need a pee for hours after.

We're all doomed!
Head for the hills before they start heading for you!

Water is essential, especially when we are involved in physical activity and even more so when this physical activity takes place in warm weather.
