From ITV London Local News

Basildon Council
are now going through household bins to check if it has any recycle
within it.

Locals are Angry,
the Council says the Law is there for them to use.

I can`t see any other way to check on this, can you? Some folks are just too idle to separate their rubbish. I really wouldn`t object to my bin being checked like this - don`t really see why there`s a problem here. Those Locals should be Angry with the lazy folks who don`t recycle whatever they can.

I would be more sympathetic to the council if the regulations were the same everywhere, but they're not. There is also the thought that it being done as a money spinner not as a service or to help people......

I came into the world with nothing and still have most of it left..

Yes this is the Problem every Council has their very own view.

Fluffy the Old Lady was angry with the Chavs that could not care one bit.

But then we have all had 10 years of the Wrong Corrupt Power.

No, we`ve just got used to living in a Throwaway Society, and the Chavs grew up in it, so whose fault is that? The writing was on the wall back in the late Sixties. I was in Tech doing science `A` levels, and we were taken on a visit to the Alternative Technology Centre at Machynlleth. They were doing the methane recycling from pig manure and vegetable waste, the paper recycling and the wind and water turbines. They were, unfortunately, considered the Lunatic Fringe, and grossly under-funded. The issue has been ignored far too long, it`s not the last TEN years, it`s the last FORTY we`ve had Governments hiding their heads in the sand and ignoring the problem.

Fluffy it is the Last 10 years
due to new €uro laws on waste
that New Labour has failed on.

And successive governments have studiously IGNORED the problem for the last forty years, despite advice from scientists etc., so, in my view they are ALL equally culpable!

Fluffy these past 10 years
were the important ones.

New Waste Laws were not followed through by
Corrupt New Labour.

So, are you saying that the last forty years didn`t count??? That`s when recycling schemes and policies could have been introduced, as they wre in Germany and Scandinavia, rather than leaving it till things get dire and we are FORCED by Euro laws to take some action. Too little, too late. But this was known about and ignored well before this last decade.

Of course not
but the last 10 were the years that were important.

They were important, certainly, but so were the previous decades!
