DAB 'not economically viable'
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/feb/11/gcapmedia.digitaltvradio
This is bad news for those that enjoy 'Planet Rock' and 'thejazz' both on DAB The Downsizing Troubled Owners have said they are both to close.
This is all wrong they should not have to pay 1 million pounds to get onto DAB.
The Bloated BBC can have loads of stations, more than they even need.
Planet Rock was a great station nothing like it.

This Special Edition Marshall Radio has the Number 1 Fixed to Planet Rock only that means that No.1 will be a wasted station number.
Sign Of The Times.

DAB is not all it is cracked upped to be. Read an article yesterday about how the quality is being lost due to cramming to many stations in. Radio 3 listeners were not impressed. I do not think digital TV is an improvement either.
Will miss Planet Rock.

Yes DAB works well on talking stations but it is true that the Quality goes up and down on Music Stations.
It is a real shame no buyers can take over Planet Rock they even did Gary Moore nights. One of the best stations out there. |

My other half, being a failed Anorak of the Week is devastated.
The technical stuff aside, it's a great radio station and it will be a huge shame if no one saves it. Rick Wakeman makes my week.(...for example wondering if the town of Muff, County Donegal, has a diving club...) |

Great News DaveB
" We have been purchased by life long rock and radio fan Malcolm Bluemel and his consortium supported by our very own Tony Iommi, Ian Anderson , Gary Moore, and Fish, saving Planet Rock from certain closure."
Good on Malcolm ,Tony Iommi and Gary Moore. |
