come to those who wait! When the children were little we spent a lot of time as a family all together. then, as they grew up at different speeds they all developed their own interests and schedules and it became more and more difficult to find any family time. I really missed the family all together but I accepted that the children needed time to grow up and away before they could grow up and come back.
Yesterday we had another one of those impromptu meals where we all sat around the table, myself, my daughters and my grandsons (and the bump that is due to become my granddaughter in August  )when my eldest told me that she and her sisters had been talking and they thought it would be nice to have a regular 'family day' once a month! My daughters have finished growing away and are ready to grow back!
I am one happy bunny!!!!!

Mim, I reckon they`d have come back anyway. We all need to fly the nest and then we need to know there`s a welcome when we realise the need to come back.
It`s a lovely thing though, if your young can synchronise their visits. And it`s GOOD to have someone to Bake for! I`m SO looking forward to 4 years on from now, retirement - ie, time to cook for family gatherings - I don`t do cakes, but there`s more to baking...I`ll maybe do a couple of half -days in hospital, to keep my hand in, but it`ll be great to spend a day with my daughter, taking the whole day to prepare one of my `specialities`, when we can do the prep together. That`s how family food should be, the joint effort of preparation is a social event in itself. |
