Been busy reclaiming contents of a tin or two.
All very confusing really.
Why not just take all to the dump and sort it there?

Are B and H and P glass bottles separated by color [American spelling!] by the roadside collectors or are they all thrown in together and therefore useless for recycling and so sent off for road hardcore?

I suspect that the state of the roads in B and H and P means that in fact the Council is using the recycled paper for the hardcore.

in Dump the Dump posted notice

quote:
We got over 1,300 votes which is fantastic ! This would not have been possible without your support and hard work so THANKYOU

The votes we got were as follows:

Hollinbury                             408 for Nick Savvides
and Stanmer

Preston Park                        644 for Jo Offer

So, if they wanted Green support, why did they put up candidates, split the vote and help Labour get back in there? Doesn't make sense.

I know ... it was a crying shame that they did not think the matter through enough.

I am not calling quest names.

This is a Forum, and I have pointed out that quest has got the address of the Brighthelm Centre completely wrong, which might send people on a fwild gose chase, and that quest made a very bad strategical error in putting up candidates at the Election and let Labour back in - and I see that Miriam Binder agrees with that.

Ah! ha! so the dump is not of concern to everybody as a citywide matter of waste disposal?

It is a nimby matter for people around it?

Surprised the council didn't foist the thing on Portslade. Perhaps that is what quest would settle for!

ah! thanks for pointing out the error, but I'm just ordinary person supporting this campaign, and I copied as publish on their web. I have not idea about the address because I've never been there before, so if someone can be helpful, thanks in advance.

BTW, I've never here such a fruitless word as NIMBY.

That place is on Queen's Road at North Road, there's some sort of garden next to it.

Hope that your meeting does not resolve to put the dump in Portslade.

We need to have a serious rethink regarding the waste disposal plan in Brighton & Hove City. And that is going to need input from people across the board.

It's very sad to think that people doesn't support campaign like this one for fear that it will be located in their own community, because it shouldn't be located in any community in the first place.

Soon will be accusing our neighbours of producing more rubbish than us, madness.

Now, I'm no Sherlock Holmes but maybe, just maybe, the massive building site, diggers, yellow-vested workers etc, heavy machinery etc would perhaps suggest the WTS is being built at Hollingdean as I write.

This is the sort of reason people are lumbered with a Dump.

All this lot are moaning about not being able to throw their rubbish down a chute.

Why aren't they recycling it? Get with it there!

You would think that all the trendy Green voters in Brighton would be pleased to have a nice shiney recycling centre close by so that their waste could dropped off easily when they cycle past. No need to travel to far either. Very good for the environment as a whole?

Question is if it is not going to be a waste depot then what could the land be used for?

Lots more houses?

I know, Brighton needs a new Sewage Treatment Works.
Better here than in a greenfield site in Peacehaven?

Good piece here. Until people create less rubbish there will be dumps.

Giant bins now, the only problem is they won't be emptied so regular so Brighton could become very smelly at times....

As long as the council does not fall in to the trap of thinking 'one size fits all' ... different areas need different solutions.
