Walking along the prom today,i saw large shoals of fish,i presume that they are whitebait with mackeral chasing them and jumping out of the water. The seagulls don't seem that bothered, probably too full up with bin bags.Am i right about the fishes??it really is an amazing sight.

Sounds as if birdy should get a sun hat.

With the weather we are having sun hats should be in demand.

"Fish are jumping..."

Next thing we know, we'll be told,

"... and the cotton is high."

Oddly enough, yesterday driving along the seafront I saw two small-ish fisihing boats - not that far out - trawling in a pair. They must have been after those shoals. I've never seen them do it before. I don't think that's a particualrly sound way of fishing so close inshore but I suppose thats the job of a fishing boat? Nice to see there is a bit of life in our waters!

I do remember many years ago the Mackeral came into shallows at the the banjo groyne and you could scoop them out the water.

We're all doomed!
Head for the hills before they start heading for you!

There would be a lot more life in our sea if those pair trawlers would clear off further out to sea, I for one would welcome a ban on any netting within 5 miles of any coast around the british isles to allow fish a decent breeding area.
