The dreary flats for Dyke Road are back again. Designs of no distinction whatsoever

They should have let someone who was going to preserve that building, at least the outside facade of it, have it. It was a case where money wasn't everything.

Flats going there is about time.
No Pictures to show that they are a bad design?

More bloomin' flats ... Has anyone any idea how many residential units are being proposed in Brighton and how many re currently being built?

I recall that Vermin put in an unsuccessful bid to buy the site and convert the existing building into flats.

I wonder if he's still around?

Vermin? I daresay ... shame that his bid wasn't accepted as he showed an awareness of the value of preserving the facade.

No surprise that Paul Elgood is getting in on this one.

Again he does not make it clear that there are no LibDems on the Planning Committee, so he commands no clout on the matter whatsoever.

Bog standard and what are those grid metal things projecting from the roof. They won't keep the rain off.

Good letter here. The subject of Dyke Road is hotting up. All eyes on the Greens!

Looks as if this one will be thrown out, thank goodness.

Looks as if these plans have been withdrawn. They have to design a better one.

The Argus has only just got this story about the plans being withdrawn - a week after the above posting!

Piecve here shows that in some areas a house fetches more as a house than as flats.

A new planning application is in - not vastly different from the previous one that Taylor-Wimpey withdrew, but objections have to be in over Christmas and New Year. How convenient for residents.

Interesting to see in Argus reports that Mr. Roger Amerena of the Montpelier and Clifton Hill conservation group so concerned that the main building be preserved. It seems he's changed his tune in recent years. He was all for demolition before ... what a fine conservationist!

The Conservatives were all set to pass this but now realise that it would cost them crucial votes in the General Election. So there are moves afoot to replace Brian Oxley as Leader.
